Beginning with Endings
Posted by xenocide in Anime~Manga, tags: Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka, Akasaka, Chaos; Head, Ga-rei Zero, Hakushaku to Yousei, Kannagi, Kurozuka, Yozakura QuartetThis is not some philosophical post about all beginnings having endings, seeing as the the first word would lack an ’s’, in that case. I just wanted to begin the real posts (the last one wasn’t really a real real post) lineup in this blog with a post about anime series which have “recently” ended because I just want an oooh~title like that above, in much the same way that I began this post with the previous sentence because I wanted to say something seemingly creative but actually plain pointless. Yes. :D
Because I don’t really have much to say after such a long time, I shall pepper this post with pictures. :D
Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka
After watching the first episode when the *last* ~season~ started, this title was among the ones that I only watched because I thought it was watchable enough. Amazingly it turned out to be funnier and more entertaining than I first thought. Whether or not it was better than I first thought would be another matter though. I wouldn’t regret not having watched it, though, of course, if I didn’t watch it, I couldn’t really regret anything since I wouldn’t know what I missed, etc. Anyway, point is, it was entertaining while it lasted, but it wasn’t anything special. This is one of the shows where you turn off part of your brain when you watch it because, well, you’ll know if you watch it. Haha.
Plus he ended up with his younger sister. :D Supposedly they’re not blood-related though. Well, there always has to be one incest-type path in these kinds of things, I guess. *shrug*

Chaos; Head
I had high hopes for this one :(
Among the shows I watched *last* ~season~ with the name MADHOUSE attached to it, (…as far as I can remember anyway…), this was the only one with quality issues. The drawings just get all weird. Plus the show itself had problems, in my opinion. The drama becomes comedy and I ended up watching it only for the story. At one point, I even decided to play the game for better art and, hopefully, better presentation, but I never got around to freeing enough disk space to do so. So, if you want to make the world a better place even for only one person at a time, start by donating to my buy-a-1TB-HDD fund. They say a journey starts with a single step, so, this is your chance at becoming a better person. :D Please do not hesitate to contact me for inquiries on how this path to salvation works. :D
The ending was a bit too happy for me too, I was expecting a darker story with cool swords/weapons and unlimited bloodworks and all, but, all that awaited me was disappointment. :( Well, this isn’t to say I hate the show, it just didn’t live up to my expectations at all. :( Tsk tsk, expectations only bring disappointments, huh? Hahaha.
Hakushaku to Yousei
It had pretty drawings.
But that was about it.
The story wasn’t so bad, and this is shoujo, etc, but……. Well, in my opinion, this show definitely had a big problem. It was… bland. Faded. It makes you ask, “Why am I watching this show again…?”, and I don’t think that’s a good thing at all. The presentation was kind of messy too, in my opinion.
I think I really just watched this show for the pretty drawings… Oh well~ Can’t resist~ HAHA.
And to think I went all hap-pee mode when I watched the first episode after seing a slow-mo fight scene with sparkles and a pretty blonde guy as the lead… Disappointment once again. :(
And yeah, stuff like sparkling bishonen “fight” scenes entertain me, much in the same way that Mistah Bushido does. :D Hihi.
I loved the OP. And the ED as well.
It wasn’t really bad, but it wasn’t really good either. I enjoyed watching Ao’s (and Gin’s, in flashback stuff) cat ears, and that was probably the highlight of this show for me. No, I don’t have a cat-ear fetish or something like that. I just think headgears with ears are very cute. :D It’s not limited to cat ears, I just really like headgears. :D
I think I would have liked this show better if it was about the time when Enjun took over Gin’s body or something. I think that story would have had more substance in it than this one. It just gives me a feeling that I’ve watched much less than 12 episodes in terms of net content for this anime… But, well, it wasn’t all that bad, I guess~
Kurozuka
Unlike Yozakura Quartet, each episode of this anime felt longer than most others. I don’t mean that in a bad way, I think that’s actually good in a sense that they manage to put so much into an episode, and you don’t really get bored.
When I watched the first episode, I thought the series was going to be awesome. It had awesome action and animation. It had awesome swords and unlimited bloodworks. It had that mystery thing to it and freaky vampire-like creatures plus fabulous rainbow colored fight scenes when Kuro goes seed-mode berserk. It had a really funny episode, perhaps as a tribute to Karuta because it was right before he died. It had an amazing ending which tells us that the real tagline of this show could actually be something like “An immortal head, his lover, and an eternity of trolling”. I always believed that there is value in mess if the mess was well presented and entertaining, what with rainbow-colored fight scenes reminiscent of Matrix and all~ SOoOo, I say Kurozuka was all in all a good show. :D It certainly entertained me~
However, it’s more of the show I would call well-made, rather than awesome. I have no personal attachment to it, and my entertainment was confined to the shallow waters of the ocean of my being.
Yeah, poetry~
But I would still recommend this show for the sheer direction masterpiece and oh-so-cool action show that I think it is. :D
Kannagi~It’s a SONYI loved this show! It was definitely one of the most entertaining shows I’ve ever watched~ Of course, there’s a lot in that list, but I’m trying to convey, anyway, that I think this show is a very good one. :D
This was actually together with Akasaka in the pending list at the beginning of *last* ~season~, but this one was definitely much better than I thought it was going to be!
I don’t really have much more to say about it though. I think it’s a failing I have. I seem to find it easier to rant about things when I don’t like them all that much. Well, except when I’m making fun of things, but there’s nothing to make fun of in Kannagi. It’s already the epitome of FUN. HAHA.
Oh, and I just have to mention the nice OP. :D It’s really very well-animated, as far as I can tell~
Well, because of Kannagi, I’m now a on official SONY fan (yeah right)~ I’m looking forward to more fun in the second season~~! :D
Extra: Even the news surrounding this title was highly entertaining. People boycotting Nagi merchandise, etc because it turns out in the manga that she had a previous lover and so that supposedly taints her previously oh-so-pure goddess type image~~??? People, get a life! I mean, I don’t really have much of that either as the world defines it, but….. HAHAHA.
Ga-Rei Zero
As much as I liked Kannagi, my favorite among the titles listed here would be Ga-Rei Zero. I’m even ~thinking~ about reading the manga now~ It had an epic April Fool’s type first episode (Natsuki~ q_q Cool bike girl~ q_q) too, which made me really watch it, despite my initial impressions when i started the first episode that it was just another cool-type anime. Hehe.
It becomes a little obvious from the titles I declare as shows I really like that I tend to gravitate towards angsty-type, cool-fighting-type, unlimited-bloodworks-type shows. Yes, I’m already 21 and yet I still haven’t outgrown my attraction to teeny angst. So what, I can pass off as a teenager anytime, nyahahahahaha~
Now I miss the show. q_q I wish I’ll be done with school by summer so I can look forward to rewatching this thing in May when all the DVDs have been released without any unnecessary concerns/excess baggage/etc~~~ But, ah, wishes are winged pigs~ They will not fly unless you throw them with your own hands, kick them with your own feet, or bring them with you on the airplane as your beloved pets.:3 Or unless you’re Freyr with Gullinbursti as your pig. :D
Definitely though, the first episode was epic.
The characters for that episode
aren’t even on the official correlation chart~
They should make a spinoff or something with the first episode characters~! Cool motorbike weapon—want~~
Ahaha~
After all that ranting and image peppering, I therefore conclude that I am a great being. I managed to make a rather long post just because I was set on the idea of beginning my posts with a post about endings-kindof-sortof-something like that. Fin.
* begin P.S. *
I think these would count as endings too? I’m officially dropping Michiko and Index. Michiko is good, but it just isn’t my type of anime, and Index made me fall asleep twice already, so, I dunno what that means, but I think it means there are shows out there that I’m more compatible with.
* end P.S. *
